What started at the dawn of human civilization as a necessity for development has evolved slowly into a status symbol and a fashion accessory.
It's true to say that over the years,watches and their designs have changed greatly.
In Africa,many communities relied more on cock crows and in observing celestial bodies to know their time.
Other communities in other parts of the world checked the movement of pendulums and designed Sun dials to measure time.
Some civilizations designed clocks that were in the form of marked candles to inform them that an hour or so had passed.
Cries of a watchman were crucial in some other parts of the globe as well as the drops of a water filled leaking bowl......
As time went by,new precise devices such as the wall clock were invented.
Then came the small pocket timepieces that gave man freedom of movement(due to their portable design) but after a while, eventually were overtaken by the current digital technology.Which sort of "compresses" everything into something small.
Nevertheless,all these efforts were meant to serve and to notify mankind of how precious time is.And how observant we should all be in life.
